What can I expect at A Downtown Affair on Caroline?

The event will occur on the 1000 block of Caroline Street and you may enter the area from either the William Street or Amelia Street entrances.  At check-in, you will be given a 21 and older wristband which needs to be worn during the entire event. At this time, you will also have the choice of purchasing a bottle of wine for your table or extra drink tickets. There will be cocktails, wine, and local beer available at the bar as well as iced tea, coffee and water. We hope that you will mingle and enjoy beverages while you make your way to your designated seat. Your designated seat will be given to you prior to the event via email or phone call. Your bid paddle for the evening will be your seat number. You will dine through six courses; appetizer, salad, pasta, fish, meat and finish the meal with dessert. During dinner a live auction will keep the mood light while we tempt you with five experience packages full of downtown fun!

Can you accommodate guests with dietary restrictions or food allergies?

A Downtown Affair on Caroline is best suited for flexible and adventurous eaters. Each attendee will receive the same fare. While some plates may be flexible, there is no guarantee and no substitutions for strict restrictions such as vegan diets, medical diets, or severe food allergies. We apologize for this inconvenience. However, if you have questions about dietary restrictions, please email us at and we can advise you.

Can you accommodate children at the events?

A Downtown Affair on Caroline is an experience for those 21 and older. Please do not bring children under the age of 21 years old.

Is there alcohol at A Downtown Affair on Caroline?

Yes, ticket prices include unlimited non-alcoholic beverages plus one alcoholic drink ticket.  There is also a cash bar with wines, local craft beer, and cocktails. For the safety of our guests, please consider arranging for a designated driver within your party or plan for a driving service (Ex. Uber, Taxi) to get you home safely.

What is the price per person and what is included in that price?

Ticket prices are $125.00 per person (plus a Convenience Fee for Credit Card Processing) which includes unlimited non-alcoholic beverages, one alcoholic drink ticket and six courses of local fare. Tickets are non-refundable.

Where can I purchase tickets? What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept online payment through our website. All major credit cards are accepted. Tickets will also be sold at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center which is located at 706 Caroline Street Fredericksburg, VA and can be reached by phone at (540) – 373- 1776, you can pay by cash, check, or credit card. There is a limited amount of tickets available for this event.

There are several ways you can join in A Downtown Affair. As a business owner, you can supply swag for the swag bag, become a part of the live auction, take advantage of a sponsorship opportunity, buy ticket(s) to attend or volunteer for the event. Do you allow well-behaved pets at A Downtown Affairon Caroline?

Due to health department regulations, no pets (dogs, cats, lizards, birds, etc.) are allowed at A Downtown Affair on Caroline.

What should I wear to A Downtown Affair on Caroline?

A Downtown Affair will take place in mid-October, we suggest you dress accordingly. We encourage bringing a light jacket in-case it gets chilly. Jeans and casual attire is appropriate.

What if it rains?

A Downtown Affair will proceed rain or shine. If weather is not appropriate to be outdoors, we will announce our change of location and any event location information as soon as possible via one or many channels of communication including our Facebook Event Page, email, or phone call.

Will I be able to see a copy of the menu before I arrive at the dinner?

We ask our chefs and restaurants to use the freshest ingredients and to be creative in their menu to give our guests a great taste of local fare. We will announce the menu as soon our chefs have a defined menu.

What if I have tickets but I cannot attend the event?

Due to the nature of the event, no refunds will be given for cancelations. However, if you cannot attend the dinner, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. Please contact us with the new guest’s information prior to the event.  You can also sell your tickets on our Facebook event page for A Downtown Affair on Caroline.

Where can we park for this event?

Fredericksburg Baptist Church has agreed to allow parking in their parking lot on Princess Anne Street. There is also a small public lot next to the Happy Clam on Sophia Street. You will also be able to park on nearby side streets.

What does the live auction entail?

We will be auctioning off five experience packages that are filled with fun activities and services. Payment can be collected via cash, check or credit card. We plan to reveal our experiences as we get a little closer to the event date.

Can we accommodate ADA Requirements?

Of course! We will have designated seats for those who need a little additional help. Please let us know when you purchase your ticket if you need an ADA seating arrangement.
