Getting Around

Downtown Fredericksburg is an exceptionally “walkable” town. With so many stores, restaurants, services, hotels, inns, galleries, coffee shops and historical sites contained within a few blocks from one another, you can stroll our brick sidewalks to get wherever you want to go.

 

Trolley rides and historic walking tours combine learning and sight seeing; discover downtown’s historically significant spots and behold our beautiful buildings at the same time! Horse drawn carriage tours take you down our tree-lined streets for a nostalgic ride with your loved ones day or night.

History Children’s Walking Tour Map

A fun way to entertain the kids while downtown. This self-guided walking tour brochure highlights 6 Downtown  historic sites and has an interactive stamp collecting program.

 

Architectural Walking Tours

“Bricks & Boards” is a 75 minute tour of the history and architect of an 8 block downtown area conducted each Saturday at 10am from Market Square located at 907 Princess Anne Street. Offered from April to Mid –October.

“This Old Town” is monthly, 75 minute tour which begins at 11:30am.  Tour guides will discuss centuries of architecture and will unravel the histories of people who helped shape the Fredericksburg community. Tour departs from Market Square, located behind historic Town Hall at 907 Princess Anne Street.

Hallowed Ground Tours

Step-on guides are available for overview or in-depth tours highlighting local sites from the area’s Colonial and Revolutionary past, through the tumultuous Civil War era and into our exciting modern times. Olde Towne Carriage Tours

Explore the heart of “America’s Most Historic City” as you travel through Fredericksburg’s 40 blocks of historic neighborhoods, where you’ll see the quaint streets and picturesque architecture that adds to the city’s unique charm.  One of the few green tours Downtown.
