What’s Next For Events in Fredericksburg

The City of Fredericksburg is the region’s resource and leader for community events. Whether it’s a community festival in historic Downtown or a concert in Celebrate Virginia the Fredericksburg area is a magnet for locals and visitors alike. Over the years the region and community have developed, and so has the number and variety of special events offered in the area. It is this rising demand and continued success that has the City of Fredericksburg asking the question, “What’s next for events in Fredericksburg?”


The Fredericksburg Event Strategic Committee is a joint effort between the City of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg Main Street to engage the public, the business and the event organizer communities, along with professional consultants to help direct the research and analysis. The goal is to ensure continued success of events as they impact the quality of life and affect the social, civic, physical and economic factors of the downtown community as well as the areas around Central Park and the Fairgrounds area of Fredericksburg.


“How are the current events affecting your quality of life in relation to the Fredericksburg area, the business community and in City parks and trails? We are now seeking the public’s input about events in Fredericksburg.” says Jane Shelhorse, Director of Fredericksburg Parks, Recreation and Events.


Two consultants from the National Main Street Center will be conducting online surveys ending on July 11, 2018. One survey is for the Community to gather public input on special events in the City of Fredericksburg. This survey is available online at www.FredParksRec.com. Surveys may be completed anonymously. Or participants may submit their contact information to be eligible to win $100 Downtown gift cards.


The other two surveys are directing to specific audiences- Fredericksburg businesses and event organizers. Reach out to info@fredericksburgmainstreet.org if you meet the criteria. The National Main Street Center consultants will be in town on July 18 and 19 for tour of events sites and data collection. There is meeting on July 18 at 7pm with Event Organizers at the Dorothy Hart Community Center (408 Canal Street). Retail and Restaurant meetings will occur on July 19 at 9am, 2:30pm and 6:00pm at Courtyard Marriott (620 Caroline Street). Sign up is required.
